Japanese Traditional Healthy Condiments: Miso Making

  • Bestow 1606 Ashland Street Ashland, OR, 97520 United States (map)

Miso is essential condiments that has thousands of years of history in Japan.  Homemade Miso will bring you the greatest health benefits rather than any kind of Miso you can find.  Learn the tips and secrets of Miso including Miso tasting, recipe ideas, and learn about what Umami is in Miso.  You will bring a quart jar of Miso back home with you. You will ferment it at home, and will have a one of a kind of Miso in this world.

I don’t know about you, but I love miso! Anytime I am feeling sick, a mug of miso soup always makes me feel better. Miso is wonderful on it’s own with tofu & seaweed as a soup before sushi, as a flavoring in salad dressings, and even with butter on a piece of avocado toast!! I love learning the story behind foods in other cultures and how to make them here at home.

Midori was born and raised in Japan and now resides in Southern Oregon. She is an artist, a farmer and a beautiful, kind person. We are very excited & lucky to have Midori Uehara come share her family tradition with us.

All materials and ingredients provided!

You will be taking your quart of miso paste home with you to ferment, a process that takes around 6 months to complete.
